Extensive Patent Portfolio

Through the growth of the company Hans Dieter Papsts systematically structured portfolio of patents gains more and more importance, since his father Hermann Papst never gave much thought to if a patent was worth registering.

Still Hermann Papst has gained a lot of experience in estimating if an idea can be realized technically or not. He is pleased for helpful suggestions of his employees and encourages them. But in case they don’t fulfil his standards of authenticity and quality, he often rejects to evaluate invention reports.

The patent for the so-called west pole motor was a very surprising success, even though the prototypes were never sold. Years after the invention was patented, the family gained from it because it was used in a video recorder of a Japanese manufacturer. Throughout the negotiations with the other company the blessing of the cultivated Patent Portfolio starts to show.
